Election Voter Guides 2024

My Blog Post from 2022 goes into much more detail, but here are resources to help you research candidates and propositions to make informed decisions, plus my personal picks and reasoning below …

Remember that in California, its an Open (Jungle) Primary, which means the top two vote-getters in the following races move on to the General Election in November, regardless of party affiliation:
– U.S. Representative
– U.S. Senator
– State Senator
– State Assembly Member

Please keep this in mind. Sometimes it may be necessary to vote for a lesser but still conservative candidate that can prevent two leftists from getting through.

And, whenever possible, please vote in person on Election Day!

My 2024 Picks for Irvine, California (Orange County)

President of the United States
– Donald J. Trump

Member, County Central Committee, 73rd Assembly District
– Scotty Peotter
– Christina L. Shea
– Jennye Bigelow

NOTE: Since there are 15 candidates running, tactically I’m voting for only 3 instead of 6 here to give each of the above the best opportunity to win. These are the team that will help us take back control of our Republican Party. I will likely run for this office in 2028 and would appreciate your vote then.

United States Senator – Full Term
– Steve Garvey

NOTE: I believe Sharleta Bassett is the best America First conservative candidate, but I am concerned about preventing both Adam Schiff and Katie Porter from being the top two vote getters in this race. From the polling I’ve seen, I believe Steve Garvey can beat Katie Porter and keep her from moving on to the General Election.

United States Senator – Partial/Unexpired Term
– Steve Garvey

NOTE: Sharleta Bassett is not a candidate in this race.

United States Representative
– Max Ukropina

NOTE: While Scott Baugh appears to be favored, I believe Max is the best America First conservative candidate. I believe he can beat Scott Baugh in this race and be one of the top two vote-getters. I fully support Max Ukropina.

State Senator – 37th District
– Crystal Miles

NOTE: I would normally vote for Steven Choi here (a solid, proven conservative), but he has been in politics a long time, so I’m voting for new blood. As far as America First conservatives, it appears that Crystal Miles is a better choice over Guy Selleck, but Guy Selleck appears to be a good choice as well. The problem here is that having too many Republican choices in the Primary splits votes and makes it hard for any of them to win against the incumbent Democrat, Josh Newman. I would like to see Steven Choi and Guy Selleck drop out immediately and endorse Crystal Miles. As a party, this is the way we need to work together as a team if we are going to remove the leftists and vote in America First conservatives.

Member of the State Assembly – 73rd District
– Scotty Peotter

Judge of the Superior Court
– Office No. 3 – Jason Baez
– Office No. 16 – Binh Dang
– Office No. 35 – Whitney Bosky

NOTE: I did not personally research each judge, but relied on the ranking system provided by JudgeVoterGuide.com above. NONE of these judges is a strong, strict Constitutional constructionist. They all rank only 3 stars out of 5. They are unfortunately the best of the worst. You can understand why we have such ridiculous rulings in our courts when so many judges are activists and don’t hold to traditional interpretation of the Constitution.

Proposition 1
– NO

NOTE: I urge all taxpayers to vote NO on ALL bond measures. These debt issues are just a hidden tax increase. Instead, let’s require some fiscal responsibility. If this is an important project, cut something else to afford to pay for it.

Measure D – City of Irvine
– NO

NOTE: There are mixed opinions on this. It would increase the number of city council members from 4 to 6 plus a mayor. It would also divide the city into 6 “districts” and the residents of each district would only be allowed to vote for their 1 city council rep that reps their specific district, plus the mayor. Right now, every Irvine resident no matter where we live, gets to vote for all 4 members plus the mayor. There is discussion that the result of splitting into districts is that it would create separation lines based a lot on race, plus it severely limits city residents from being able to vote for more than one city council member that represents their values. That’s why I’m voting NO.

These are my thoughts and reasoning. I welcome to hear from you if you have a different opinion.

May God go before us and protect these elections from fraud!

My Love Tustin Story

Love Tustin BannerSaturday, May 4th, 2019 at Peppertree Park – 7:30am to 2:30pm

Love Fullerton 2018 Bench Building CrewI attend a regular weekly Bible study in Fullerton every Monday night, so two years ago, when I learned about the Love Fullerton citywide serve day event produced by OC United, I volunteered to help out.

Love Fullerton 2018 Completed BenchLast year, our crew built a U-shaped bench in the outdoor classroom area for the Agricultural Department at Fullerton High School. Students previously had to stand when receiving instruction or for other gatherings. Now they have a beautiful bench to sit on, all because of the Love Fullerton event.

The year before that, I helped on a team to hang drywall in a garage that was being converted into functional living space in a house where former foster youth lived.

OC United LogoOC United, in partnership with a group called Love Our Cities out of Modesto, has helped launch and continues to produce events like Love Fullerton in eight other cities: Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, La Habra, La Mirada, Orange, Placentia & Yorba Linda.

I was very impressed and thought how much I’d like to see an event like this in my home town of Tustin. After praying about it, I felt that the Lord was nudging me to step up and be the City Leader to establish Love Tustin, so I reached out to OC United and they helped me get things started.

The concept of Love Tustin and all the rest of the Love Our Cities events is for the entire community to come together for half a day once a year (at least initially) to provide resources and labor to complete desired projects for the benefit of all our city residents. We bring together city government, local businesses, non-profits, schools, and the faith community to help “cross pollinate” these groups so we can all expand outside our normal spheres of influence and get to know and work with others in the community.

Groups with needs propose projects, and volunteers then view the list of available projects and sign up to work on one or more of them at the LoveTustin.org website.

Love Tustin 2019 T-ShirtsWe still have openings and could use more volunteers for a few projects. If you would like to help out, please visit LoveTustin.org, choose a project or two and sign up.

The first 100 volunteers checking in on-site at the Rally at Peppertree Park on Saturday morning will get a FREE Love Tustin t-shirt! Also, Oliboli Donuts and Good Stuff Coffee will provide a light breakfast at the morning Rally, and Friends Cafe will provide a light lunch to show our appreciation for all the volunteers.

I hope to see you out there this coming Saturday at Peppertree Park. And SAVE THE DATE for next year – Saturday, April 25, 2020!

Intrinsic Value

(Originally Published on: May 19, 2015)

One of the most important truths the Bible teaches is the fact that God loves us totally and without any preconditions, and our self-worth should be based on this and this alone.

Love is not finite, because God is not finite. God IS love and the source of all love. Therefore, when God loves me, He gives me ALL of His love, AND He still has ALL of His love to give to you, and to each and everyone else. He doesn’t hold anything back.

diamond-lg
And God doesn’t love us because of the way we look, or how smart we are, or how wealthy we are, or how successful we are. He places no circumstance or condition on it. A diamond, whether it is lying at the bottom of the trash dumpster or prominently displayed in a glass case in the museum, has exactly the same value.

And we do not, we can not, EARN His love.

Those of us who are parents, think about how much we love our children, even though we love imperfectly and incompletely. What did they do to earn our love, and yet we still love them that much?

There is nothing we can do, nothing we can say, nothing we can even think, that can separate us from the deep, unabating love of our Father in heaven.

Yes, our sin DOES separate us from God. But even in our sin, He doesn’t stop loving us, He doesn’t abandon us. When we sin, because of His great love, He made a way for us to come back, to restore our relationship with Him, through Jesus.

Many of us spend our entire lives searching for validation from parents, from spouses, from siblings, from teachers, from co-workers, from public accolades … from everything and everyone other than from God. But we don’t have to spend one fraction of a second searching.

God created each and every human being uniquely and intentionally, each with Intrinsic Value – it is innate, naturally inherent. This is because we alone among God’s created beings are made in His image. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Gen 1:27 NASB)

We were created valuable and our value never decreases.

We must learn and understand this truth, really understand it at our core, and we must teach it to our children and reinforce it every day from the time they are small. (See Deut 6:4-9)

If each of us really GOT this, can you imagine how many of our societal problems would disappear over night? These problems are mostly symptoms of each of us searching for a different source for, and trying to earn, our value. But God wants us to be at peace. He tells us to, “Cease striving and know that I am God;” (Ps 46:10a NASB). It’s really that simple.

God values each and every one of us beyond human measure, which is why He sent Jesus into the world to redeem us. We just need to realize and internalize this each day, to understand how truly valuable we are, and we need to help others to do the same.
